Domain

The business or operational reality that a system represents and acts upon.

A domain contains entities, relationships, rules, processes, decisions, states and events.

Specification

A formal representation of the domain that defines its meaning and behavior in a structured, machine-readable form.

Domain-First

An approach in which understanding and formalizing the domain precedes the selection and implementation of technology.

Specification-Driven Development

A development approach in which a formal specification becomes a central source from which software and other artifacts can be derived.

Agentic Engineering

An approach to software architecture in which AI agents become active components capable of reasoning, acting, coordinating and transforming information.

Kernel

Operation

A defined action that can be performed within the domain.

Policy

A rule or set of constraints governing what is permitted, required or prohibited.

State

A meaningful condition of an entity or process within the domain.

Transition

A defined change from one state to another under specified conditions.
