Expose the Domain

APIs are one of the ways the outside world interacts with a software system.

In HexaKernel, they can expose domain capabilities rather than simply exposing technical implementation details.

Domain-Centered Interfaces

An API can represent meaningful domain operations and resources.

Instead of exposing how the system happens to be implemented, it exposes what the domain allows users and systems to do.

That creates a more stable interface between the domain and its consumers.

APIs From the Domain

Because the domain is formally specified, API capabilities can be connected directly to the concepts, operations and rules that define the system.

The API becomes another expression of the domain.

Consistent Execution

When an API invokes a domain operation, that operation can execute within the same Kernel context as operations initiated by applications, agents or other components.

Identity.

Authorization.

Rules.

Events.

Audit.

Observability.

The execution model remains consistent regardless of where the request originated.

APIs as Domain Boundaries

The purpose of an API is not simply to expose code.

It is to expose capabilities.

Expose what the domain can do, without exposing the complexity of how it does it.
